Ultimate Oscillator
Blends three timeframes of momentum into one 0–100 line to cut the false signals a single period gives.
How to read it
The Ultimate Oscillator blends momentum from three different lookbacks (short, medium, long) into one 0–100 line, aiming to cut the false signals a single-timeframe oscillator produces. Above 70 is overbought, below 30 oversold.
Trading signals
Its signature signal is divergence: price making a lower low while the UO makes a higher low, then the UO breaking above the high of that divergence, is a classic long. Plain 30/70 tags work too, but the multi-timeframe blend makes them steadier than a single oscillator.
Parameters
The Short, Medium and Long periods are the three lookbacks blended together (classic 7 / 14 / 28). Keeping them roughly in a 1:2:4 ratio preserves the balance the oscillator is designed around.
- Ultimate Oscillator Short Period
- Shortest of the three momentum lookbacks.
- Ultimate Oscillator Medium Period
- Middle momentum lookback.
- Ultimate Oscillator Long Period
- Longest momentum lookback.
