Long MA

A long-period average of price that shows the dominant trend — price above it leans bullish, below it bearish.

How to read it

A long moving average smooths price over many bars to reveal the dominant trend. Price holding above a rising long MA is a healthy uptrend; sitting below a falling one is a downtrend. The line itself often acts as dynamic support or resistance.

Trading signals

Use it as a trend filter: favour longs while price (or a faster MA) is above the long MA, shorts while below. A close back through the MA warns the trend may be turning. Being slow, it confirms a move rather than predicting it.

Parameters

Long MA Period sets how many bars are averaged — longer is smoother and slower. MA Type (SMA, EMA, …) changes the weighting: an EMA reacts faster to recent bars than an SMA.
