DEMA

A low-lag average between a plain EMA and a TEMA — responsive without being overly jumpy.

How to read it

DEMA (Double Exponential Moving Average) combines EMAs to strip out most of the lag, so it turns sooner than a normal EMA. It's a close cousin of TEMA — a touch slower and smoother, since it double-averages rather than triple-averages.

Trading signals

Read it like any moving average, just faster: a price cross of the DEMA, or a fast/slow DEMA cross, signals the trend earlier. Choose DEMA over TEMA when you want the low lag but a bit less of the overshoot a triple average can add in choppy conditions.

Parameters

DEMA Period sets the base EMA length. Like TEMA, its lag-cancelling makes a given period feel faster than a plain EMA, so you can run a longer period for the same responsiveness with less noise.
